有一次看到臉書推薦一部影片，其實本來是不太看影片的我，因為聽到歌聲整個起雞皮疙瘩，忍不住找出完整的片段，真的是熱淚盈眶。She blew me all away.

Nightbirde本名Jane Marczweski，因為癌症搬到加州治療，在她最飽受煎熬的那段時光，她時常夢到：夜晚的窗外，總是有一隻鳥在唱歌，她希望自己能夠成為那隻在夜晚中唱歌的鳥night bird。這也是她stage name（藝名）─ Nightbride（夜鶯，中文文章比較多人翻譯成夜鶯，但是夜鶯的對應的英文詞應該是Nightingale）的由來。
Nightbride在參加節目的時候已經好幾年沒有工作，而且被醫生診斷出癌症已經擴散到她的肺臟、脊椎和肝臟，只有2%的存活率。

節目評審聽了她的狀況說：「So you’re not okay.」
她笑著回答：「But not in every way.但不是所有事情都不好」
評審稱讚她有著充滿光彩的笑容，沒有人會知道她有不好的經歷。
她回答：「It’s important that everyone knows I’m so much more than the bad things that happens to me.重要的是每個人都知道，我這個人不能只用發生在我身上的不好事情來定義。」＊你們還可以透過好多事情來認識我。
對當時面臨許多挑戰，一直覺得甚麼事情都做不好的我，給了很大的安慰。

Nightbirde在節目最後說：「You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore, before you decide to be happy.（你不能等到生活不再艱難的時候，才選擇快樂）。」
「I have a 2% chance of survival, but 2% is not zero percent.2% is something, and I wish people knew how amazing it is.我有2%的存活可能性，但2%不是0%。2%就是那個可能性，我希望大家知道這是多麼了不起的事情。」
雖然最後她還是在2022年逝世，但就像她生前最後在社群軟體上說的話：「What a miracle that the pain I’ve walked through can be reworked into beauty that makes people all over the world open their eyes wider.我走過的痛苦可以被轉化成令世界各地的人們睜大雙眼驚嘆的美，真是個奇蹟。」

儘管Nightbirde在節目上散發出無限的希望與喜樂，但是她曾說過：“Sadness is the soul’s way of saying this mattered. You have to feel it. You can’t fake the rest of your life like nothing bad happened and whistle a happy tune all day. That’s not what it is to be human. Everybody who might be getting a dose of this toxic positivity, “just be happy,” you don’t have to do that. And you don’t have to feel guilty for being sad. That’s something that I struggle with a lot. I used to believe that if I was sad it meant that I wasn’t fighting hard enough or I wasn’t grateful enough and that’s not true. Be sad and be grateful. Look at the twinkly lights and feel your feelings. It’s all real, the joy, the pain, and you do not have to pick one or the other. Life is beautiful or life is garbage. It’s kind of both sometimes.” 悲傷是靈魂在說這件事情很重要。你不能假裝甚麼壞事都沒有發生，每天哼著快樂的曲調。那不是人類的本質。所有可能正在接受「只要快樂」這種有毒的積極的人，你不必這樣做。你不必因為感到悲傷而感到內疚。那是我常常掙扎的問題，我曾經相信，如果我感到悲傷，那意味著我沒有努力戰鬥，或是我不夠感激，但這並不是真的。感到悲傷，並且感到感激。看著閃爍的燈光，感受你的感情。一切都是真的，快樂、痛苦，你不必只選擇其中一個生活。有時候生活就是既美好又糟糕。
